Learn the key elements to making a successful image. Class time will be spent with a mix of hands-on work, slideshows, critique and discussion. Lighting, composition, exposure, flash, selecting a location and how to approach your subject are covered. Editing a story and putting together a body of work is discussed. Leave the class with a mini portfolio of your work.

All About your Digital SLR at the JCC in Manhattain


Learn to use your digital SLR to make great photographs. We will cover the technical aspects including ISO, White Balance, Flash modes, Picture modes, Aperture, Shutter Speed, etc. Explore the aesthetic and compositional aspects of photography as well in this two-part beginner course. Class demonstrations, critiques of work and slideshows of well known photographers will take place.

In Part 2, learn to using Adobe Lightroom to develop effective workflows for sorting and editing images, refining image adjustment skills, and discuss printing.
