WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

  1. Call or email us:  We can discuss what your needs are and get to know each other a little – and make sure we are a good fit.  We will then schedule an Initial Consultation.
  2. Initial Consultation:  We get together at our home studio for a consultation or your home.  This is when we review the logistics of the shoot – location, clothes, timing, etc.  We’ll review your plans for the finished images, and review different studio samples of products.  This usually lasts no longer than 30 minutes and we’ve found it to be an essential step towards a successful shoot. We design our sessions around your needs and wants. Each shoot is customized to the client.
  3. Preparation:  Karen Haberberg Photography will scout out locations based on our discussion, or try out different backdrops for a studio session.  We will also ask you to take pictures of walls you are considering for your finished images – or we can come over to your home and take pictures.  This is invaluable when it comes time to choosing products and images.
  4. The Session:  Whether it’s on location or in the studio – it will be fun! The subjects personalities will come out beautifully. We shoot until we get it right.
  5. Ordering Session in the Studio:  Within about two weeks of the shoot, we will have you come back to review your images in high definition in the studio or we will come to you.  We will help you narrow down your choices and admire your beautiful portraits. This takes about an hour.
  6. Delivery and Installation:  Once your products arrive, we will let you know. The images look just amazing on the walls as a final product.
  7. You just love your images and this process:  These artistic heirloom products will last a lifetime – so you and your family will be smiling for years. We only use the bes products out there; rag mats, archival prints and uv glass. We’re only happy when you are happy!

NOT TO WORRY, THE FOLLOWING WILL BE COVERED IN THE CONSULTATION AND WILL BE MORE SPECIFIC TO YOUR NEEDS AND WANTS.

Infant and Kids

What to bring? The best photographs are made when kids are enjoying themselves. Fun accessories like hats or balloons or lollipops. Kids favorite toy and blanket is also great; anything that excites your child. A ball and bubbles work well too. Bringing snacks, drinks, wipes and a hairbrush or comb is useful. Let the photographer know if you have any particular poses in mind.

What to wear?  Make sure your child is comfortable. We suggest clothes with fun colors and no large graphic prints.  Also bring a change of clothes.

Keep outfits simple. If the outfit is both bright with busy patterns, it can detract from the most important parts of the portrait — your child’s face and expression. To ensure your child is more prominent than the clothes, try outfits with solid colors or simple patterns.  Combinations of patterns can be fun too — checkers, polka dots and stripes in complimentary colors. Layering clothing for boys is stylish and adorable. Little girls look cute with headbands and tutu’s, princess dresses, etc.  Shoes? Sandals, barefoot, socks? Play around and have fun; maybe let your child pick one outfit (shows their personality) and you get to pick the other.

Family outfits can be casual, vibrant or mismatched. Most people think you need some brilliant themed outfits in order for the shot to work. We disagree.
Some Family Picture Outfit Ideas:
1. Let everyone pick their favorite t-shirt and jeans and go barefoot.
2. Little kids get a sweater that has a variety of colors and the adults can pull solid colors from the sweater.
3. Everyone has a different primary or pastel color on.
4. Go formal: Black, white or Brown with silver, cream and gold accents look great together.

Where should we shoot? Once we talk, I will have the information I need to determine a great location especially for you.
